MRI Project Contractor Selection - Full Service

Selecting a knowledgeable builder or remodeling contractor for your MRI Imaging Center Project. - MRI Consulting Module #8

A knowledgeable building contractor understands the respect and safety considerations necessary to work with powerful magnetic fields and costly MRI equipment. Safety Procedures, warning placards, and crucial pre-action fire Systems are fundamental.

Selecting an architect familiar with the community where the MRI Imaging Center Project will be built is essential. The right Architect should be able to provide an understanding of the specific community construction companies and some remodeling contractors with experience in building out your MRI project site.

They will screen subcontractors and workers who might have received ferrous metal splinters in their bodies (in particular eyes.)

Your Architect will understand Cryogen Venting considerations and other crucial MRI suite buildout issues. Contractor familiarity with early planning for the MRI delivery is paramount as well.

This preliminary discussion of the possible MRI magnet site location and the current community's new building and remodeling costs per square foot should be discussed and offered (The Medical Architect can quickly access this construction cost range for your community).

Architectural space planning will also occur, and the preliminary design of the building or remodeling plan should be developed.

Interviews with candidate construction companies or remodeling contractors will happen, the project design, in my experience, will be put out to three companies for the bid, and contractor interviews will be conducted.

Once bids are received, the Architect and consultant will meet with the finalists to make a selection and award the contract. As MRI Turnkey Imaging Center design and build consultants and OAC participants, we have considerable experience in this process.

We can help ensure that your MRI Imaging Center's design and construction are highly successful and not prone to failure at any point.

In this Module, we will discuss:

  • Collaborating with your Architect to obtain the most recent architectural and regional buildout data for the specific client building and outsourcing center project community regarding builder/construction costs per square foot.
  • Integrate that information into planning, available resources, and buildout desires, and construct a thorough framework for the expected range of construction costs per square foot.
  • Working with the Architect and completing preliminary MRI Imaging Center space planning, designing, and building documents. We ensure they reflect the client's interest and intent for their MRI Imaging Center moving forward. (We can discuss the documents to be produced at various intervals by your Architect)
  • We can also help you upgrade your MRI Imaging Center Financial and Business Viability Analysis if you have previously constructed one.
  • Working with your Architect and Client to identify the community's three most viable Medical Building construction firms. If a smaller project, you can locate three regional construction businesses that have satisfactorily completed medical office remodeling projects of some complexity.
  • Working with your Architect to send a communication and invitation to bid on this project and arrange the dates for interviews with the prospective Construction Companies who have signaled the intent to bid on your project.
  • Developing the framework and interview tools for your interview with the various Builders.
  • Interviewing the builder candidates separately as well as the Architect and MRI project clients.
  • Evaluation of the Builder responses and buildout quotes. Review of AIA document built by builders. Obtaining the most client-friendly terms and pricing in the builder agreement.
