MRI Site Testing - Coaching

MRI Site Testing to Assure Scan Quality  - Module # 6

Crucial tests include Vibration Testing, Seismic Testing, Concrete Testing, Structural Engineering Certification, and even Soil Compaction Testing.

On-site consulting engineer testing the vibration and seismic considerations of a client's MRI site.

In this Coaching and As Needed Consultation and Assistance Module that you can select for this Imaging Center Project area, we will discuss,

  • Assess your MRI Imaging Project and review the activities taken to date.
  • Your current MRI Imaging Center site, if one is chosen during consultation. If so, depending on where you are in the process, we can discuss what needs to occur regarding the finalization of the building and site lease. We Review and provide negotiation feedback to the client on their proposed MRI Imaging Center, building-site lease, and gaining a possible TI allowance.
  • We advise on the process of retaining an Architect and possible Builder or Remodeling Site Contractor, and their role and timing in Assessing the ferrous metal composition in the MRI site slab, their retention and incorporation of the Vibration Testing and Seismic Testing data, as well as guidance to the Structural Engineer of Record regarding their responsibilities.
  • Choosing between a ground single-floor building or a multiple-floor building? Are you considering a “Slab on Grade” installation, or are you interested in installing the second floor or higher? Provide more in-depth guidance on what to be aware of and how to make either choice as well as possible.
  • Have you assessed the area of the site location where you will site the MRI Magnet Room to determine whether the probable flooring slab was built with Ferrous Rebar? Determination of the site slab and ferrous metal composition and working with the contractor to order the concrete slab core cut and concrete re-pour.
  • Guiding scheduling of the Vibration and Testing Engineers, interpretation of their reports, and, in the case of a failing grade on the testing, looking at the preliminary floor plan layout to still use the site and retest if necessary.
  • Understanding the role and value of the Structural Engineer of record. If you have retained an architect and builder or remodeling firm, do they have a structural engineer of record? You will want to know what they have been retained in the design and build process. We want to ensure they can be contacted to provide “sign off” and structural engineering confirmation on various design-build issues for the MRI vendor project engineer to receive the MRI Magnet Delivery sign approval and sign off—understanding what that will include and why that is important.
  • Understanding the RF (Radio-frequency Testing) that will be conducted after the Magnet Room RF shield is completed.
  • Answering all questions of importance to the client, whether related to these items or other items in the MRI build-out process.
