MRI Imaging Center Accreditation - Module # 17

MRI reception area

While there are three MRI accreditation entities that I am aware of that are utilized routinely for the accreditation of MRI services, which all insurers will want proof of prior to paying for imaging claims, my recommendations are to pursue ACR Accreditation (American College of Radiology) which I view as the most highly regarded MRI Imaging Center accreditation entity, and is considered by many, to be the “Gold Standard” in MRI Imaging Center Accreditation.

My experience with the MRI accreditation process through ACR, has always been very professional and highly accommodating of any group that seeks accreditation assistance for their MRI Imaging Center. The American College of Radiology (ACR) website is also very user friendly, and a great deal can be learned in advance, and in addition your MRI Accreditation application can be started online with ACR.

You will want to plan on a minimum of two months, for the accreditation process to be approved by ACR once you have submitted your full application. You will also need to have the assistance of an experienced  supervising radiologist, and you will have to be able to submit the minimum acceptable number and type of studies that you require for the submission of your specific application for MRI Accreditation through ACR.

As mentioned, to pass accreditation with the MRI accreditation body that you choose, you will require a supervising radiologist. At the request of all the MRI Imaging Center clients that we are working with, we have high quality teleradiology groups in place. In addition to providing highly cost effective teleradiology interpretations of studies, they also provide the supervising radiologist role for our client groups, and assist with the process of preparing the MRI Imaging Center technologist(s) for all of the steps necessary to submit studies and paperwork for MRI accreditation. In addition, the teleradiology groups that we work with, have been of such high quality, and our technologists on site of such high quality, that we have found , the centers we work with have completed full MRI Imaging Center accreditation (ACR) with scores of 100%, with no conditions! Which is of course, as good as it gets! If you want your MRI Imaging Center to be fully accredited, just as soon as is reasonably possible, with the highest possible score with the American College of Radiology, you will want to contact our group for assistance, we can guide you to success.
